APPELLATION: Terre Siciliane IGP
GRAPE: Nerello Mascalese
DIMENSION: 75 cl. Bottle
Nerello Mascalese, which has always been grown on Etna, offers its best wine if it grows on the northern side. Even in August on Etna the temperatures in the afternoon plummet when the air of the 3000 meters of the summit slips below. The height gives the vine its so late ripening, producing fragrant wines richer in anthocyanins. The mineral difference between the lava flows gives rise to strong distinctions in the Contrade, which are becoming real "crus". This wine comes from grapes of various Contrade between 500 and 1000 meters above sea level, from the districts of Arcuria, Malpasso, Favazza, Guardiola and Feudo di Mezzo.
Passopisciaro wine is both pungent and tight, as befits the young and freshly lighted nerello from the highest areas of Etna; it is strong and upright in body, for the extended season and the free and complete maturation of this year. 2012 is an exceptional year that will be remembered as one of the best on Etna. 2012 will age for a long time and for now it is to be served ice cream like a white.
