APPELLATION: Terre Siciliane IGT
GRAPE: Cesanese d’Affile 40%, Petit Verdot 60%
DIMENSION: 75 cl. Bottle
Franchetti is the flagship wine of the Passopisciaro estate, a super-Etna produced from Petit Verdot and Cesanese d'Affile grapes planted on rock and volcanic ash in Contrada Guardiola.
Franchetti is a wine produced by the producer that expresses and represents the idea of wine and the personal vision of a man. The result is a wine unique in the world, of great concentration, black as the lava and volcanic smoke that flow from Etna.
The heat wave that hit the peninsula also reached Etna. The temperature drops of the night did not occur and the long and hot summer lasted until mid-September.
The grapes continued to ripen steadily and gradually throughout the summer and especially in the first part of autumn, presenting themselves to the harvest with an advanced ripeness. Despite this, we were able to harvest at the right time, without haste, to achieve the optimal balance between fruit and mineral structure.
Every morning I went to the vineyards to taste the grapes and found a small step forward in ripening, and so for many days until the right moment. The wine evokes ripe red fruit, with great freshness and balanced power.
