APPELLATION: Terre Siciliane IGT
GRAPE: Petit Verdot 100%
DIMENSION: 75 cl. Bottle
Franchetti 2013 is an intensely fruity wine, the result of beautiful inspirations in winemaking after a generally very fresh vintage throughout Italy, and difficult, due to the way the grapes ripen which resulted in musts full of acidity.
We harvested the Franchetti, Petit Verdot grapes (100% in the wine) at the beginning of November, during a week in which the north side of the volcano had taken an impressive light; even so late in the season the grapes we harvest on Etna remain hard and healthy.
We fermented them together with a certain amount of stalks that ignite the must and support the wine with a strong vein of tannins, fortunately very smooth, which integrate the acidity. The skins this year did not easily release the substances but the wines, at the end of fermentation, were thick in color and in extracts.
Drained into new barriques and left on the lees, it has transformed the acid base of this vintage with great care.
