APPELLATION: Terre Siciliane IGP
GRAPE: Nerello Mascalese
DIMENSION: 75 cl. Bottle
|2014 VINTAGE||Historic Contrada that extends between 800 and 1000 m a.s.l. until the last casting in 1947. It produces intense wines that typically taste of marzipan, orange and red fruits. Our property is made up of a parcel of 80-year-old plants that grow in the last lower part of the district, before the jump onto the underlying Contrada Santo Spirito.
2014 surprised us by a very rapid harvest. Etna experienced a summer in maximum drought, but with cool nights, typical of the highest volcano in Europe (otherwise it looks like 2012, while it is much more balanced); a long heat rose several times to consume the air and reign up high on the north side, reaching the most ancient and powerful plants of Nerello Mascalese. Our vineyards were recognized because they still had grapes at the end of October. The grapes arrived in the black cellar, with scents that were new bluish inventions and a strange new wonderful spice.
