Small winery on the northern slopes of the Etna volcano. Vineyards in Solicchiata and Verzella.
Finally, in 1971, Carmelo Vecchio, grandfather of the current owner of the company, managed to redeem, with a considerable economic effort, the approximately 35 hectares of the Carranchello estate near Verzella, a hamlet of Castiglione Di Sicilia. These are lava soils characterized by the looming presence of petrified flows from which day after day it was necessary to obtain centimeters of earth to be used for the cultivation of the vine. Always defined as inhabitants of the "Sciare", the Vecchio di Verzella have maintained the traditional vine cultivation techniques, preserving the sapling plant, the terraces, favoring biodiversity within the vineyards and the manual management of the various agricultural operations .
Only in 2016, Carmelo Vecchio, thanks to his family experience and that gained as a cellar worker and tractor driver for 17 years at the Passopisciaro company of Andrea Franchetti on Etna, decides to bottle the product of the experience of generations that preceded it, making wine a part of the grapes.
